Thousands flocked to the streets for a town’s much-loved annual St George’s Day celebration.
March’s St George’s Day Festival saw people come from all over to enjoy food, entertainment, and the parade on Sunday.
Organised by Fenland District Council with community partners, volunteers and the March Events Committee, this was the town’s 16th free event.
Cllr Kim French, the town’s mayor, declared the fayre open at 10am on the main stage and more than 100 market stalls lined the Library and City Road car parks offering an array of goods and information.
There was also a colourful parade from the library to West End Park led by the Newmarket Samba band and featuring the event’s iconic dragon as well as community groups, school children and artists.
Fenland District Council said: “We would like to thank everyone involved in the festival and fayre now and in past years - your support is invaluable.”
Jan French, chair of the March Events Committee, added: “Biggest thanks go to all the staff of Fenland District Council and all who attended to make it a successful event.”
