19-year-old starts as Eddie Howe makes two changes: Predicted Newcastle XI to face Crystal Palace

Eddie Howe will hope his Newcastle United team are fully rested and ready to face Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

The Magpies have had some time off since their emphatic win over Tottenham Hotspur, and have only seen results go their way ever since.

One of those came courtesy of our next opponents, with Crystal Palace beating West Ham United 5-2 on Sunday.

It was a big win for Oliver Glasner, who is now wary of playing what should be a fresh Newcastle United team at Selhurst Park.

Eddie Howe will hope that Glasner’s prediction is correct, and this is the Newcastle United team we expect him to pick against Crystal Palace.

Two changes in defence for Newcastle

Newcastle United had a makeshift defence against Tottenham, and it resulted in Eddie Howe completing a bit of a tactical masterclass.

But we expect him to go back to a conventional back four on Wednesday, with two defensive changes anticipated.

Tino Livramento made his return from injury during the win over Spurs and should take Emil Krafth’s place, while fans will be eager for Lewis Hall to start as well. The 19-year-old is playing much better as of late, and we predict he will operate at left-back against Crystal Palace.

No options in midfield after Joe Willock decision

While Newcastle have the ability to rotate at full-back, that is not the case in midfield.

It will be the same trio that started against Spurs, which means Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimaraes and Elliot Anderson playing together again.

That is because Joe Willock’s season is now over, while Joelinton is still injured and Sandro Tonali is still banned.

It could potentially result in more minutes for Joe White, who should be on the bench.

Callum Wilson on the bench against Crystal Palace

Howe will be hoping to have a fresh option in attack, with Callum Wilson back in training. Hopefully he is on the bench at Selhurst Park, having been absent since late February with a pectoral injury.

Wilson will provide cover for Alexander Isak, who will hope to continue his hot streak in front of goal. He now has 21 goals in all competitions this season, and will be eager to add to his tally.

The 24-year-old will be joined by Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon in attack, as the trio start together for just the second time this season.

Predicted XI vs Crystal Palace: Dubravka; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Longstaff, Bruno, Anderson; Gordon, Isak, Barnes.
