Reader’s letter: Town was well represented

What a privilege to be able to hear the choir of St Mary Magdelene performing recently in Germany.

On April 5 they performed at a short service in Cologne Cathedral — a magnificent building, Germany's most visited landmark and the tallest twin-spired church in the world.

On April 6, they gave a concert in Wesel Willibrordi Cathedral where they performed a range of music from the 16th century to the 21st century, which was very well received by the local congregation.

On Sunday, at St Peter’s Church in Muelheim they joined the local choir and together they sang at morning service and then at a traditional English Evensong.

It was wonderful to see the two choirs, both composed of a wide age range from young children to mature voices, completely integrated and singing in both languages.

The choir were accompanied by their Curate, the Rev Danny Marshall who joined with St Peter’s clergy to give a truly combined service.

We should indeed be proud of this jewel in the centre of our town. — DR M. MCDOUGAULD.
