Sherlock Holmes case The Sign of Four, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is the latest production by Robin Hood Theatre Company at Averham

Celebrated detective Sherlock Holmes is on the case for the next production of Robin Hood Theatre Company.

The famous sleuth is brought to life on the Robin Hood stage at Averham next week in The Sign Of Four.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's epic second Holmes novel has been adapted for stage by Nick Lane.

Robin Hood Theatre Company's next production is The Sign Of Four

Theshow imaginatively juggles a multitude of characters, rapidly switching between scenes set in Victorian London, Imperial India and the wharves and waterways of the river Thames.

Sherlock is bored and listless when Mary Morstan arrives at Baker Street seeking help after the mysterious disappearance of her father – just the challenge Holmes was craving.

Sherlock and his companion Dr Watson are plunged into a murky world of deception: a complex plot involving murder, corruption and stolen jewels.

Crammed full of adventure, romance, comedy and, of course, one or two rather brilliant deductions, this imaginative adaptation combines ear-catching music, high energy theatricality and ensemble storytelling all taking place in a visually stunning and highly versatile set.

The production runs from Tuesday (April 23) through to Saturday, April 27, including a Saturday matinee.
