'The last couple of weeks': Darren Bent now questions 22-year-old Chelsea player's mentality

Chelsea have a very young team and Darren Bent has now questioned the mentality of one of their players.

Their inexperience was once again on display over the weekend as Chelsea went on to lose 1-0 against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals.

The Blues had the better chances on the day but could not get over the line in the end.

According to The xG Philosophy, Chelsea’s xG was 1.29, which was higher than City’s 0.86.

Nicolas Jackson had a lot of his side’s chances but failed to convert. Mauricio Pochettino, however, still thinks the striker has done a “fantastic job” overall this season.

Darren Bent slams Chelsea player after FA Cup semi-final defeat

Chelsea will be looking to bounce back from their loss at Wembley tonight when they take on Arsenal.

Ahead of that game, Bent has been speaking about Noni Madueke, questioning his mentality after he was caught laughing following his team’s recent defeat, whereas Thiago Silva was seen crying.

Discussing both players on talkSPORT (22/04/2024 at 18:07), the former Tottenham Hotspur striker said: “Madueke in the last couple of weeks, I am a little bit like… Because of the whole penalty situation, you think of Cole Palmer and all that, I just think that he needs to keep his nose dry, his powder dry.

“I think maybe it shows the difference in mentality as well. Thiago Silva has been at the very, very top, won big trophies, look how devastated he has been. Madueke obviously laughing in the background.”

Should Noni Madueke be forgiven?

A lot has been said about Madueke following the incident at Wembley, which follows the penalty scramble he got himself involved in the previous game.

However, it is important to remember that the winger is still just 22 years of age and has come up with some big moments for Chelsea this season.

The England U21 international has won penalties against Manchester United and Crystal Palace, spot-kicks won while Chelsea were losing and drawing in those respective matches. Supporters should not be too harsh on him.
