Everything you need to know about SCF as Rangers group issue special fan request

It’s been 22 years since Peter Lovenkrands’ famous ‘twist in the tale’ won Rangers the Scottish Cup against Old Firm rivals Celtic.

That iconic 3-2 clash between two very talented Rangers and Celtic sides in 2002 has gone down in history and it is also the last time both clubs played each other in the Hampden showpiece.

It means May’s Scottish Cup Final is set to be an enthralling clash over two decades in the making and all eyes will be on Glasgow come the match.

When is Rangers v Celtic Scottish Cup Final?

Rangers will play Celtic at Hampden Park on Saturday the 25th of May in this year’s Scottish Cup Final.

The match will kick off at 3pm.

Where can I watch Rangers v Celtic Scottish Cup Final?

With TV rights for the Scottish Cup split between BBC Scotland and Premier Sports, both channels will be screening the Final.

Whilst Celtic’s victorious penalty kicks semi-final against Aberdeen was screened on BBC Scotland, Rangers’ 2-0 win over Hearts was shown on Premier Sports.

When was the last Old Firm Scottish Cup Final?

The last time the Old Firm met in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden it produced one of the most legendary games in Scottish football history.

Peter Lovenkrands scored a last minute winner, diving onto Neil McCann’s looping last-minute cross to net a header and send the Rangers support into delirium.

The match – between Alex McLeish’s Rangers team and Martin O’Neill’s Celtic – is one of the most famous in Scottish Cup history.

A talent strewn Hampden showpiece saw two of the best Old Firm sides of the modern era do battle with Rangers coming out on top.

Celtic twice took the lead in the match, first through John Hartson and then Bobo Balde before Peter Lovenkrands and a stunning Barry Ferguson free kick hauled Rangers level.

The Danish striker popped up to score a stunning last minute winner with Ian Crocker’s commentary almost as famous as the goal.

What is ticket allocation for Rangers v Celtic Scottish Cup Final?

In a season where there hasn’t been a single away fan at an Old Firm derby, the campaign will end with a 50/50 split of Rangers and Celtic supporters.

As Hampden is a neutral venue both Rangers and Celtic supporters will be at the national stadium in equal numbers and it will surely be an occasion to remember as a result.

Whilst a 5% European style away allocation is to be implemented in the fixture next season, the ticket split will add an extra dimension to the fixture.

Special instructions for Rangers fans

Leading Rangers fan group the Union Bears have also requested that Gers fans wear all blue for the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden.

In a message to supporters, the move is designed to show the Celtic support that ‘Glasgow is Blue’ and the move should have a visually striking impact.
