Ex-Communist Party deputy in Zaporizhzhya jailed for missile strike coordination

Former Zaporizhzhya City Council deputy sentenced to 15 years in prison for directing Russian missile strikes

The strikes also destroyed at least 30 private houses and damaged a regional industrial plant.

The deputy, who was previously sentenced to six years in prison for plotting a coup, was recruited by Federal Security Service (FSB) in late 2022 and gathered intelligence on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and defense facilities from his former colleagues in the party. He then personally took photos of the potential targets and sent them in a messenger to his Russian curators along with a detailed description.

He was found guilty of high treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
