NATO has no plans to expand the number of Alliance members with nuclear weapons, according to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Answering the question of whether NATO is negotiating to expand the sharing of nuclear weapons, Stoltenberg said that "there are not plans for this".

What preceded it

Earlier, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that his country has obligations to NATO as a member of the Alliance and is ready to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory.

According to Duda, the issue of nuclear weapons deployment has been the subject of Polish-American negotiations for some time.

"If our allies decide to deploy nuclear weapons within the framework of the joint use of nuclear weapons on our territory to strengthen the security of NATO's eastern flank, we are ready for it. We are an ally of the North Atlantic Alliance and we have obligations in this area, so we are simply pursuing a common policy," the President says.
