'Nonsense': Journalist slams ex-manager for latest comments on Sheffield Wednesday's transfer business

Tony Pulis has been criticised for his latest comments on former club Sheffield Wednesday.

Tony Pulis hasn’t been in management since 2020, but his most recent role came with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Welshman lasted only ten league matches before he was sacked, collecting only one win in the process.

Sky Sports reported that there had been major disagreements between Pulis and Dejphon Chansiri over the club’s transfer plans, before the Thai businessman later described his appointment as a ‘mistake’.

Despite the heated relationship between Pulis and Chansiri, the former coach has now spoken out on his former club and has claimed that Chansiri should be given more credit by supporters.

“They’ve brought in quite a few players but the Chairman will get no credit despite stumping up the money,” Pulis said.

Tony Pulis talking ‘nonsense’ about his former club

Journalist Dom Howson has been quick to criticise the 66-year-old, claiming he is talking ‘nonsense’.

He wrote on X: “Tony Pulis on his old club #SWFC (via OLGB): “They’ve brought in quite a few players but the Chairman will get no credit despite stumping up the money.” What a load of nonsense. SWFC signed 4 players (on loan) in January. DC has always been praised when he has spent money.”

Does Dejphon Chansiri deserve credit?

Tony Pulis clearly isn’t paying as much attention to Sheffield Wednesday as he believes he is, because Dejphon Chansiri certainly hasn’t been ‘stumping up the money’.

The Owls owner reportedly coughed up just over £1 million on 12 players in the summer, with four of them joining on free transfers and five on loan.

Wednesday desperately needed some new additions in January too as they looked to claw their way out of the relegation zone, and while the likes of James Beadle and Ian Poveda proved successful, they were also two of four loan deals that the club made.

Yes, it is more money than they have spent in recent seasons, but that doesn’t mean Chansiri should take more credit for what the club may achieve this term.

He still refused to barely spend a money and actually asked fans if they could donate their own cash to help him pay his HMRC debts last year.

If Wednesday stay up, then it is all down to Danny Rohl and the hard-working players.

The only thing Chansiri can take credit for is deciding to appoint the German as their manager in the first place, though we might not have been in this mess in the first place if Xisco Munoz was never brought in.
