Tottenham could now offer 28-year-old new contract after Ange Postecoglou told him he can leave

Tottenham Hotspur could now offer a player who looked set for a summer exit a new contract ahead of the summer.

There is a lot still to be decided on the pitch in north London over the remaining six games and it seems there’s still a lot off the field too yet to be decided.

Ange Postecoglou has done well to put together such a solid squad of players within his first 12 months in north London.

Tottenham look set to end the season in the European spot and they have their Australian manager to thanks after turning around what was a season to forget last year.

It has very much been a team effort at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following the sale of Harry Kane last summer.

But it seems there are more players who Postecoglou inherited who are set to also depart the club over the coming months.

However, it seems one could now be offered an extended future this summer despite looking to be a certain exit this summer.

Tottenham player could no complete sensational U-turn ahead of the summer

Although players like James Maddison and Micky van de Ven have landed at Hotspur Way and made an immediate impact.

There have been some players who were already at the club that have suffered as a result of Postecoglou’s solid base of trusted players.

There are players like Oliver Skipp and Bryan Gil who are simply no where near offering any sort of involvement in the matchday squad currently.

And then there is the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who is not getting enough minutes for a player of his quality.

There is another player similar to Hojbjerg in that sense and that is Giovani Lo Celso who has really struggled to earn regular minutes.

Postecoglou has even told the Argentine that is free to leave in the summer if he feels he is not being offered the game time he deserves.

However, Tuttomercato are now reporting Spurs could now offer him a two-year contract extension as he remains in Tottenham’s plans.

The report claims Barcelona have an eye on the 28-year-old, but Spurs are now keen to lock the player’s future down in north London.

Could Giovani Lo Celso start against Arsenal on Sunday?

It would certainly be a bold choice to bring Lo Celso into the starting XI in the biggest game of the season for Spurs.

However, it is apparent Maddison is far from his best currently with the Englishman really struggling to rediscover his pre-injury form.

Here is a summary of how Lo Celso has fared in the Premier League this season.

Statistics via Transfermarkt.

The Spurs News did not include Lo Celso in our predicted XI for the game on Sunday with Postecoglou potentially making a number of changes.

And that comes as a result of the Australian not bringing Lo Celso in as a Maddison replacement already despite the 27-year-old’s poor form.
