Report: How Newcastle United privately feel about their imminent Adidas deal

Whether or not a megastar arrives or Bruno Guimaraes is sold, there will definitely be one big change at Newcastle United this summer.

It was announced last year that the Magpies are changing kit provider ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, with Castore set to be replaced by Adidas.

There is a huge amount of buzz on Tyneside ahead of Adidas’ return, with the German brand producing some of Newcastle United‘s most iconic kits over the years.

They will be hoping to do the same upon their return, with the club already bracing itself for a huge amount of interest from supporters. Fans are delighted to have Adidas back, and so are the owners.

How Newcastle feel about the return of Adidas

The Adidas deal was highlighted during Newcastle United’s Amazon documentary last year, and you could see how excited the owners were to be bringing the brand back to Tyneside.

And a new report from iNews shares why the club are feeling so positive about their looming partnership with Adidas behind the scenes.

iNews report that Newcastle see this internally as an opportunity to ‘press reset on a retail operation that has lagged far behind top six rivals’.

In comparison, Newcastle’s Adidas deal is much less lucrative than Man United’s. The Red Devils earn £90million-a-year from theirs, while Liverpool are also hoping to secure a mega money deal with Adidas in the near future.

But it is a step in the right direction for Newcastle United, who need to continue increasing their revenue if they are to reach the level they are aiming for amid profit and sustainability concerns.

How much the deal is worth

It is a landmark deal for Amanda Staveley and co, who have cut the Castore partnership short to launch a fresh association with Adidas.

It is an incredibly lucrative partnership that will see Newcastle United initially increase their revenue by £25million – and that is before they have sold any shirts.

That is because iNews state that the Castore deal was worth £5million-a-year, while the Adidas one will earn the Magpies £30million-a-year.

It is a huge leap in the right direction, so it is no surprise to hear that Toon officials are feeling very positive behind the scenes.

When Newcastle’s first Adidas kit will be launched

With the end of the 2023/24 season on the horizon, Newcastle United fans are not going to have to wait much longer to see their new Adidas kits.

It has been reported that the away shirt is going to be heavily influenced by a kit from the Magpies’ past, while the home one is set to be launched on June 7th.
