Emma Dolan will fight Shannon Ryan for the vacant British title with her own Commonwealth belt on the line

Newark’s Commonwealth champion Emma Dolan will be fighting Shannon Ryan with both her belt on the line and the vacant British Super Fly-weight title up for grabs when the bout takes place on June 22.

The Advertiser broke the news earlier in the year when the fight which was due to go ahead on February 10 had to be postponed after Dolan developed a serious chest infection.

The two undefeated fighters had been due to meet at London's O2 venue on the undercard of the Matchroom Boxing promoted main event of Liam Dillon versus Reece Bellotti.

Emma Dolan proudly lifts her belt.

“Emma is keen and ready to go,” said Dolan’s trainer, Carl Greaves.

“It is a big fight, the winner will probably push on and be highly rated for a world title.

“I am excited.

“It is on a big platform on Matchroom Sport, live on DAZN.

“It will be held in Birmingham on neutral ground which suits us.

“Emma fancies the fight, she knows that it isn’t going to be easy but she has the bit between the teeth.

“Shannon is quite explosive, she is a fair shorter than Emma and will be looking to put pressure on her.

“Shannon is a good body puncher, Emma has great attributes, she has a good jab and she boxes nicely.

“Emma is hard to beat but it is a proper fifty-fifty fight.

“Both girls have had six fights with six wins and are on the same pathway, it is going to be a great fight.

“We need to get the gameplan right and if we do that, I am confident things will turn out for us.

“If Emma wins this, she will be propelled into the big leagues.

Ryan is managed by Anthony Joshua’s company, 258 Management and is a highly fancied fighter in the world of boxing.

“Preparation for the fight is going well,” said Greaves.

“She is looking good.

“Emma has her head on straight, she knows this is a big fight.

“She knows that if she wins this, it is going to be life-changing for her.

“Everything is going to plan.”
