Crystal Palace ‘livewire’ proved his importance to Glasner by causing ‘problems’ v Fulham - Our View

Crystal Palace continued their unbeaten run in the Premier League at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon, seeing one of Oliver Glasner’s players prove he’s now essential to the Eagles.

It was a well-fought point for Crystal Palace against Fulham on Saturday afternoon as Oliver Glasner’s side came from a goal down to record a draw at Craven Cottage.

Jeffrey Schlupp’s 87th-minute equaliser deserved three points for the strike alone as the 31-year-old hit a venomous shot beyond Bernd Leno before the German could even register it.

Overall, it was a deserved point for Palace who extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to four games, with a host of strong performances recognisable on the day.

Daniel Munoz was impressive for Crystal Palace against Fulham

There was plenty of praise for Schlupp’s thunderbolt equaliser, which subsequently saw Adam Wharton lauded for his assist and overall performance at Craven Cottage.

As it has been in the previous three Palace games, Glasner would have a hard time selecting one player to applaud, with each figure playing a part in the Eagles’ rise in form.

Against Fulham, Daniel Munoz was a shining light for the visitors, linking superbly with Michael Olise down the right side against the impressive Antonee Robinson.

In his post-match player ratings for London World, journalist Toby Bryant dubbed the Colombian a ‘livewire’, adding that the full-back caused Robinson ‘problems’ throughout the contest with his pace.

Daniel Munoz has become one of Oliver Glasner’s most important players

It was an impressively rounded display from Munoz and one that was expected from the January arrival, who has been consistently strong for Palace since arriving in South London.

What has become apparent since he made the £6.8m move from Genk is that the dynamic full-back brings a progressive edge to Palace on the right side, with his display against Fulham showing just that.

Time after time, the Colombia international linked expertly with Olise, running Robinson ragged on the flank with persistent waves of threat.

By playing a back three with two wing-backs, Glasner is getting the best out of Munoz’s skillset, with the 27-year-old possessing an innate ability to fly forward and be a dominant figure defensively as well.

The versatile defender has become one of Palace’s key players since arriving, installing a refreshing outlook on utilising full-backs to great effect at Selhurst Park, a theme that is spreading across the modern game.
