'Different planet': Taylor Twellman in awe by what 'genius' Inter Miami star did for Lionel Messi vs New England

Taylor Twellman was last night left in awe by what one Inter Miami player did for Lionel Messi last night against the New England Revolution.

It was once again the Messi show for the Herons as the 36-year-old attacker enjoyed a record-breaking night leading the line for Inter Miami with two goals and two assists in front of 65,000 fans at Gillette Stadium.

A 4-1 win for Inter Miami solidified their place at the top of the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings, with the Herons winning their last three games in the league and looking like strong favorites to be the first team to qualify for the playoffs.

Yet Twellman was left in awe by one moment from an Inter Miami teammate involving Messi.

Sergio Busquets branded as ‘genius’ after Messi assist vs New England

Speaking on Apple TV’s coverage of the match, Twellman was left stunned by Sergio Busquets‘ pass to Messi for the Argentine’s second goal of the match, with the assist spilling the New England defense with ease.

Indeed, Busquets has been quietly going about his business with Inter Miami this season, with the midfielder scoring his first goal for the club last week, yet this pass to Messi might be the highlight of the year for the 35-year-old.

Twellman said: “We take it for granted the genius of these players. Because Henry Kessler is too slow to react, you can’t allow a player of Sergio Busquets’ quality and Lionel Messi to break you down.

“it’s not what ahead of you, it’s what’s behind you. It’s not the first layer, it’s not the second, it’s the third layer run from Messi, and Busqeuts on a dime, those two are on a different planet.”

Busquets is now finding his rhythm at Inter Miami this season

Whilst Busquets is regarded as one of the best midfielders to ever play the game, the veteran Spanish international was arguably the superstar Inter Miami signing who has found the adjustment to MLS the hardest.

Whilst the 35-year-old has revealed he loves playing for Inter Miami and in the division, Busquets struggled in patches last season, with Messi and Jordi Alba still trying to gel with their new team having joined in the summer.

However, Busquets this year looks like a player reborn, with the midfielder controlling the tempo of the game perfectly and now finding the perfect passes to Messi in the final third that are causing rival teams problems.
