'Really tough': Josko Gvardiol shares what was difficult about playing at Nottingham Forest

Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol has shared what he found really tricky about playing against Nottingham Forest.

The Croatian defender opened the scoring for the champions in the first half and produced a dominant display.

Erling Haaland scored a second-half goal to put the stamp on the victory, leaving Forest to stay embroiled in a relegation battle.

Forest had some glorious chances to cause havoc and score goals of their own, with Chris Wood guilty of missing some really good chances.

Paul Merson bemoaned the performance of Wood as he missed two extremely good chances to get Forest a foothold in the game.

Now, Gvardiol has explained what he found tricky about coming up against a dogged Nottingham Forest team at the City Ground.

Well, it would appear as though there was one element of yesterday that made life difficult for Manchester City.

The City Ground pitch looked immaculate to the naked eye but it wasn’t all good and well from a playing perspective.

Gvardiol has bemoaned the pitch and claimed that it was particularly dry during yesterday’s clash.

He told Match of the Day 2: “The result looks like it was easy but the conditions were really tough, especially the pitch.

“The grass was really dry and that’s what we expected…I know they didn’t water it at any point.

“And, I get it, they’re fighting for the points also.”

Forest pitch was fine but the Reds should have taken points

The Reds needed to try and get something yesterday and try was something which they certainly did.

Had Wood had his scoring boots on things could have been so much different and taking something would have been richly deserved.

Ultimately, City showed their class with a solid display in finishing, whilst Forest missed the chances that came their way.

Gvardiol moaning about the pitch is a little strange and it’s a complete mystery how it was so dry.

The heavens opened on Sunday morning and only stopped a matter of hours before the Reds kicked off against City.

Pep Guardiola also bemoaned the pitch, although it did feel as though it hampered Forest just as much as his own team.

The pitch gripes were a little odd and Forest have just one more game to come on their own patch this season.

Now, the Reds are really at the point of no return and hopefully, they can grab some points next weekend at Sheffield United.
