Supreme Court denies Peter Navarro's request to be released from prison

Former White House trade adviser Peter Navarro will not be released from prison while he appeals his conviction for contempt of Congress.

On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court said it would not take up Navarro's case.

"The application for release pending appeal addressed to Justice Gorsuch and referred to the Court is denied," a one-line statement from the court read.

In March, Chief Justice John Roberts also denied a request to release Navarro from prison pending appeal.

Navarro is serving four months after he refused to cooperate with the House Jan. 6 Committee. He could be released from prison in July.
