Report: Newcastle can sign 'incredible' Miguel Almiron replacement for £40m this summer

Newcastle United might have to splash the cash if they are serious about replacing Miguel Almiron this summer.

The right of attack is a position that the Magpies know they need to strengthen in. With Alexander Isak through the middle and Anthony Gordon on the left, they need one more play to complete their front three.

And that could coincide with Miguel Almiron leaving the club this summer, after he was heavily linked with a move away in January.

It has been reported that he is likely to depart St James’ Park at the end of the season, with Newcastle United planning to sign a versatile forward.

They will need to sign someone to take Almiron’s place in the starting XI, and could look close to home.

Newcastle United interested in Wolves star

While megastars like Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman have came from abroad, Newcastle have also made some brilliant domestic signings. Getting Gordon from Everton was a masterstroke, and they could repeat that trick this summer.

That is because Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto is set to be on the Magpies’ radar as they search for attacking reinforcements.

The 24-year-old could be on his way out of Molineux, with Wolves possibly needing to cash in on their best player due to profit and sustainability.

How much Pedro Neto will cost this summer

Neto would be an exciting addition to the Newcastle United squad, and would certainly be an upgrade on Almiron.

However, bringing him to Newcastle will mean making him one of the club’s most expensive signings ever.

That is because, according to the Chronicle, Wolves are looking for a fee of at least £40million for Neto this summer.

Newcastle must decide how much they think Neto is worth

That is about the same amount as what Newcastle spent on Gordon, so Toon officials must decide whether or not they think Neto can have the same kind of impact.

He is probably more of a finished article than Gordon was when he arrived, having already been a bit of a talisman for Wolves. The 24-year-old has been described as ‘incredible‘ by Gary O’Neil, and the numbers back that up.

Neto has got 11 assists in all competitions this season, nine of which came in the Premier League. That is only one less than Kieran Trippier has got.

The Portuguese speedster’s numbers are impressive, but the big concern is his fitness record. Neto has had a lot of injury problems over the past few years, and the last thing that Newcastle need after the season they have had is another sicknote.
