Report: What Evangelos Marinakis did after Forest defeats to Fulham and Arsenal this season

A new report has explained what Evangelos Marinakis has done this season after Nottingham Forest defeats against Fulham in December and Arsenal in January.

The Reds’ owner isn’t necessarily backwards in coming forwards if he’s got something to get off his chest.

Marinakis has worked in football for a number of years and knows what it takes to run a successful football club.

The Greek businessman oversaw Forest winning promotion to the Premier League and made some big claims about winning trophies following the Wembley win.

Things haven’t quite worked out like that and after staying in the Premier League last season, the 2023/24 campaign has proved very turbulent.

With three games to go, Forest are a point above the relegation zone and have also been deducted four points this season.

Now, some claims have been made about Marinakis and just how mad he’s got at a number of points during the Forest season.

Report shares two furious Marinakis moments at Forest

Well, this is quite remarkable and showcases that Marinakis isn’t afraid to vent his frustrations if things don’t go the way of his club.

According to The Telegraph, he was so furious with the 5-0 defeat to Fulham in December that he stormed out of Craven Cottage.

On the way out of the game, he tossed his security lanyard into a nearby garden and just weeks later he decided to chop Steve Cooper.

Shortly afterNuno Espirito Santo was appointed, Forest took on Arsenal and for an hour, the Reds kept the North Londoners at bay.

However, a goalkeeping error from Matt Turner saw Arsenal break the deadlock and eventually win the game 2-1.

Marinakis wasn’t impressed with Forest. He put his foot through the television monitor that is placed in front of his seat at the City Ground.

Marinakis needs to simmer a little bit to avoid sanctions

There has been another unsavoury incident this season when Marinakis marched to the side of the pitch after a late 1-0 defeat to Liverpool.

Referee Paul Tierney gave Liverpool the ball back, despite stopping play for an injured player when the Reds were in possession of the ball.

That prompted Marinakis to storm pitchside – and also saw Steven Reid given a red card for his battering of Tierney.

Those kinds of incidents don’t put Forest in a good light and he will be aware that those antics need to be curbed.

The situations at Fulham and Arsenal perhaps showcase over-extended passion and it will be hard to rid Marinakis of that.

One thing that is for sure is that nobody can deny that Marinakis cares deeply about the football club.

He’s put his hand in his pocket from day one and although he’s made mistakes, the hope will be that he can continue learning from them in the future.
