'Little twerp': Simon Jordan defends Chansiri after video of him pushing Sheffield Wednesday fan goes viral

A Sheffield Wednesday fan has been criticised after his video of Dejphon Chansiri pushing him went viral.

Sheffield Wednesday enjoyed a hugely success weekend of Championship football, claiming their second win on the bounce to take them three points above the drop zone.

The Owls are now unbeaten in their last five matches and just need a single point against Sunderland on the final day to avoid relegation.

The fans are in very high spirits right now, but that didn’t stop one supporter from sharing his frustrations with owner Dejphon Chansiri.

The boy recorded himself meeting Chansiri after the match at Hillsborough, and while the chairman thought he was going to take a picture, he instead recorded himself singing: “Get out of our club, get out of our club, Dejphon Chansiri, get out of our club”.

Chansiri then reacts by shoving the fan, to which he says ‘ouch’, then he is escorted away by a security guard.

The boy’s father shared the video on X, writing: “My son getting hit by the Sheffield Wednesday chairman! Just about shows his arrogance at not understanding of the English game!”

While most fans would agree that they want Chansiri out of the club, some have criticised the young fan for his actions.

Simon Jordan thinks the Sheffield Wednesday fan was in the wrong

With the clip going viral online, talkSPORT presenter and former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has now defended Chansiri.

Speaking on talkSPORT (11:54), he said: ““I am not sure I would have pushed him. I might have done, ‘Get lost, you little twerp’. And, in this day and age, somehow the kid will be turned into the victim. That will happen. ‘Look at what happened’. No, no no.

“Have a bit of respect. If you don’t like the owner, then don’t get involved and try to make fun or parody out of the owner by presenting yourself as if you want a picture taken with him and getting yourself into a position of notoriety by singing in front of him.”

Why cause unnecessary problems for the club right now?

Sheffield Wednesday fans are rightfully frustrated by Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership, and staying up certainly won’t change that.

But for now, they are in an unbelievable position in which they can quite easily stay in the Championship this weekend, and that should be their main focus.

The Owls will want to get this weekend out the way then they can look at things like Chansiri, Danny Rohl‘s future, players’ contracts etc.

This young fan and his father are creating unnecessary drama for the club when they certainly don’t need it.

And he was obviously trying to provoke a reaction from Chansiri, otherwise he wouldn’t have recorded it and put it on social media.

He definitely shouldn’t have pushed him, but it is no surprise that he reacted.
