Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer knows a thing or two about scoring goals.
He is the Magpies’ record goalscorer, finding the net on 206 different occasions for Newcastle United. He is also the Premier League’s leading scorer, boasting 260 top flight goals across his career.
Alan Shearer knows exactly where the back of the net is, which is the most valuable skill in football.
And that is why he is adamant that Newcastle United must not sell Alexander Isak.

Ever since Shearer hung up his boots, Newcastle United have been craving their next great striker.
The likes of Demba Ba and Andy Carroll did well, as did Papiss Cisse and Loic Remy. Callum Wilson has been outstanding, but not to the extent that Shearer was.
Instead, the only player who comes close to Shearer is Alexander Isak. He is the Magpies’ most expensive signing ever, and is proving exactly why he cost so much.
The £63million man is in red hot form, scoring 23 goals in all competitions this season. 19 of them have come in the Premier League, and he is still in with a chance of winning the Golden Boot with four games to go.
Isak is playing brilliantly right now, and is proving to be lethal in front of goal. That is why other clubs are looking at him, with Arsenal interested in signing him.

But Newcastle have no plans to sell the 24-year-old, and Shearer believes it would be an ‘absolutely bonkers’ decision if the club decided to cash in on Isak this summer.
“He is a very, very good player,” he said on the latest episode of The Rest Is Football podcast.
“He is a modern-day forward in terms of, do you know like the trend we see in terms of rather than a centre-forward, he is a forward, he is a brilliant example of that.
“Had one or two injuries this season, but while he has been on the pitch, he has been absolutely magnificent.
“He is brilliant at running behind because he is quick, and once he is away, you are not catching him. He is also very clever at coming short, you know, and dragging defenders in with him, therefore leaving space in behind. He is a very clever and intelligent player, and he has got great ability.
“They are sat on a great asset, and it would be absolutely bonkers for Newcastle if for whatever reason they sold him in the summer.”
No way Newcastle will sell Isak this summer
Shearer says it would be absolutely bonkers if Newcastle United sold Isak, and the club know that. They recognise what they have got in Isak, which is exactly why they have no intention of letting him go.
He is a player who Eddie Howe wants to build his team around, and so he should. He is an elite centre-forward, and without a doubt the best the Premier League has to offer after Erling Haaland.
Newcastle have struck gold with Isak, and he has the talent to become a Toon legend. If he continues to score at this rate over the next few years, he certainly will.
The priority this summer has to be keeping him at St James’ Park, and that is more likely with every goal he scores, as it only means his asking price is increasing!
