Republicans' tolerance for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-GA) antics seem to be reaching a boiling point, and Politico's Playbook reports that she could face serious consequences if she keeps trying to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).
Greene's proposed motion to vacate the chair is doomed to fail now that Democratic leaders in the House have said that they will oppose it, but the Georgia congresswoman has nonetheless scheduled a 9 a.m. press conference where she's expected to demand a vote on her motion to vacate Johnson.
Should she go through with this, it would be defying the wishes of Republican National Committee co-chairman Michael Whatley, who was hand-picked by former President Donald Trump to take over for ousted RNC chair Ronna McDaniel.

Even though Whatley told her to back off recently, Greene has remained defiant, and Politico writes that this has led to some in Trump's orbit to muse about her being "iced out" of his second administration.
“If she blows everything up... we’re not going to bring her in the fold on anything,” said one GOP source. "She’s on her own."
Another Republican source told Playbook that they believe Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries intentionally announced his support for Johnson just to push Greene to explode with self-destructive anger.
“Fresh bait always finds a fish,” he said. “Jeffries throwing that out there, it’s chum in the water. Everyone knows what he did.”
Greene so far has found two other Republicans -- Reps. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) -- who have signed off on her push to oust Johnson.
However, even some of Greene's fellow hardliners who backed the ouster of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), including Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Eli Crane (R-AZ), have opposed her measure to push Johnson out the door.
