West Ham United look set for a summer of change as David Moyes’ future at the London Stadium remains uncertain.
The Hammers haven’t had a bad season by any means, but there’s certainly scope to go in a different direction manager-wise.
The summer transfer window could also see numerous incomings and outgoings as West Ham look to kick on next season.
Now, one player said to be on the Hammers radar has just been praised by claret-and-blue cult hero Jermain Defoe.
The player in question is Sunderland’s Jack Clarke, who was linked with West Ham in January and who could yet be a target in summer.
The i reported in March that the 23-year-old’s contract stalemate ‘will put West Ham and and other suitors on alert ahead of the summer’.

Admittedly, Defoe – who is a Sunderland icon as well as a West Ham cult hero – would like to see Clarke stay put at the Stadium of Light.
He told the Sunderland Echo: “If I was manager, he would stay… I know Jack Clarke and you never know.
“At the end of the day, he’s someone who I knew about from when he was at Leeds and he comes to Tottenham and he’s a 1v1 specialist.
“He’s one of those players that you don’t have to coach. You coach him by giving him the ball and letting him express himself and do what he does.
“You can’t really coach players like that. If the club can hold on to him, he’ll be amazing.
“I think for any manager or young coach to work with players like that would obviously be a dream because when you’ve got good players, it makes your job easier.”

Clarke’s career is now back on an upward trajectory after his difficult spell at Tottenham.
With Sunderland out of promotion contention this season, now’s as good a time as ever for West Ham to try their luck.
The £20million-rated player could well be tempted by another stint in the Premier League, particularly as it would give him a chance to show Spurs that they made a mistake in offloading him.
