"Real handful": Chris Sutton tips one Crystal Palace player to cause Man Utd problems, predicts result

This coming weekend for Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace side is the challenge of Manchester United at Selhurst Park.

With just three games remaining this season, Crystal Palace will have already turned its attention toward the summer transfer window.

We’ve already seen this with the number of transfer links which have emerged since safety from relegation was confirmed.

But Oliver Glasner must ensure his attention isn’t diverted too much with three tough games remaining over the next two weeks.

Ahead of the game, the predictions are rolling in and after Paul Merson had his say, Chris Sutton has joined in.

Chris Sutton predicts Crystal Palace vs Manchester United

Writing his predictions column on BBC Sport, Sutton has made his prediction for the fixture on Monday night at Selhurst Park.

“I keep getting abuse from Manchester United fans on social media saying I never back them on here… but we keep on seeing why I rarely back them to win.

“They were played off the park by Burnley last week and were fortunate to get a point. So, how can I possibly back them to beat Palace?

“The one thing that might help Erik ten Hag’s side is that Eagles forward Eberechi Eze is doubtful with a knee injury, but Jean-Philippe Mateta is still on fire and will be a real handful for the United defence.

“Palace won 1-0 at Old Trafford in September but I don’t want to upset United fans again by predicting they will suffer another defeat.

“I do want to tip Palace to win, but there are so many angry United fans out there who think I am against their club, I am going to say United will get a lucky draw to try to get them onside.”

He then said his scoreline prediction which is 1-1, although it sounds like even he doesn’t believe United can get a point.

Glasner will be facing a weakened United side

Not that Palace need any extra confidence right now, but United are in a run of one win in six which displays the appalling form they have been on.

Along with this, there are doubts over Bruno Fernandes’ availability as per Metro, as he’s been spotted wearing a protective cast.

In recent weeks, United have been largely a one-man show with Bruno carrying them to wins and draws at various perilous positions.

Palace will be brimming with confidence and it’s highly likely the Eagles convincingly beat this sorry United team.
