'Good players': Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder praises four 'quality' Nottingham Forest stars

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has now praised four Nottingham Forest players ahead of the Premier League clash at Bramall Lane on Saturday.

The Blades are already relegated, so they come into this Premier League encounter under no pressure – which could work against Nottingham Forest, who desperately need three points as Luton Town and Burnley lurk.

So, which Nottingham Forest quartet has Chris Wilder singled out for praise? Let’s take a look…

Chris Wilder praises Nottingham Forest quartet

Well, the 56-year-old opted to focus on the attacking talent at Nuno Espirito Santo’s disposal.

Wilder began by praising Morgan Gibbs-White, who impressed on loan at Sheffield United back in the 2021/22 campaign with 13 goals and ten assists in 40 appearances, before also naming Anthony Elanga, Chris Wood and Callum Hudson-Odoi as danger men.

Speaking in his press conference earlier on Friday, the man from Stocksbridge – who was linked to Nottingham Forest in 2021 – said: “They’ve got good threats at the top of the pitch.

“We obviously know Morgan very, very well. He had an outstanding loan period here. Elanga, Hudson-Odoi, Chris Wood. They’ve got some good players. Very heavily stacked in quality.”

That is some front four – in truth – a quartet who really shouldn’t be sitting 17th in the Premier League with just three games to go.

However, football is not played on paper, nor is it decided by the quality of the names on the teamsheet – regardless of who Nuno selects in the starting XI, Nottingham Forest need to stick together at Bramall Lane and focus, as this match could well be the difference between relegation or survival.

Anthony Elanga must start

Elanga was left on the bench in the 2-0 loss against Everton, with Nuno preferring Gio Reyna on the right given the fact the Sweden international only just regained full fitness.

However, the £15m man simply has to start against Sheffield United after impressing against Manchester City.

Elanga’s electric pace should terrify a sluggish Sheffield United backline who have remarkably conceded 97 goals in just 35 Premier League games this season.

Furthermore, the Nottingham Forest No.21’s return of five goals and eight assists in 33 Premier League appearances this season proves he is not only quick, but creative too.

Not even Phil Foden or Bruno Fernandes have that many assists in the Premier League this term.

Hopefully, Elanga is named in the starting XI on Saturday – if he is, it could prove decisive for Nottingham Forest.
