Jacob Steinberg gives West Ham fans hope with major new Ruben Amorim claim

The Ruben Amorim to West Ham United rumours are just refusing to go away aren’t they?

Ruben Amorim emerged as a shock target for West Ham last week, when a report claimed that we had opened talks with the 39-year-old Sporting CP boss.

The Portuguese flew over from London to hold a meeting with the Hammers owners – one that went really badly by all accounts – and he returned to Sporting with his tail between his legs.

Amorim then apologised to the Sporting fans for flying over to London to hold talks with West Ham in the middle of a title race.

So as the West Ham fans exhaled a collective sigh of despair at the thought of missing out on the 39-year-old, names like Julen Lopetegui and Paulo Fonseca were heavily linked with the Hammers job.

The dream of Amorim taking over from David Moyes is over for now then isn’t it…or is it?

West Ham fans given new Ruben Amorim hope

It seems like there is still an outside chance of the 39-year-old replacing Moyes at the London Stadium.

The Portuguese is one of the most exciting young coaches on the planet, and I have no doubts that he would take us on to another level entirely.

Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg has dropped a new claim regarding Amorim potentially taking over at West Ham.

He claims that the Sporting coach is still in the mix to be appointed as the new Hammers boss, although Lopetegui is leading the race for the job.

Listen, if there is any chance whatsoever of bringing the 39-year-old to the London Stadium, the West Ham owners have to make it happen.

He is a sensational coach, and would get this Hammers squad playing some scintillating football.

His release clause will undoubtedly represent a problem for the East London outfit, but wouldn’t it be nice for our owners to show some real ambition for a change!

And after Steinberg’s claim, it seems like Ruben Amorim is still in the mix for the West Ham job. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, in spite of how unlikely the Portuguese rocking up at the London Stadium may be.
