‘Sensational’: Nigel Winterburn says £30m Arsenal player has been even better than Declan Rice

Whatever happens between now and the end of the campaign, this has been a season to remember for Arsenal.

Indeed, the Gunners have been brilliant this term, and while it may not end with a Premier League title, this group of players will always be remembered as being very special.

We’re almost at the end of this rollercoaster of a campaign, and, somehow, Arsenal will have to name a Player of the Season at the end of this term.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, Nigel Winterburn has been discussing who should win Arsenal’s Player of the Season award, and he’s stated that he believes Martin Odegaard should win the Player of the Year award.

Martin Odegaard should be Arsenal’s Player of the Year

Winterburn spoke about the £30m man and how good he has been.

“Listen, will he (Rice) win Player of the Season at Arsenal? It’s going to be huge, Saliba has been outstanding, Saka has been outstanding, Odegaard has been sensational as well. Whoever gets that award will fully deserve it,” Winterburn said.

“Who would I pick? Personally I would pick Odegaard, I just love the way he has played this year, he leads the press for Arsenal and he sets off a lot of chances. For a player that skilful to work so hard for the team. He does everything. I would just about give it to him.”

Arsenal have so many contenders

Odegaard would be a worthy winner of Arsenal’s Player of the Year award, but there are so many players who could also be considered contenders.

Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba have all been immense, as have Gabriel Magalhaes and Ben White.

Kai Havertz has arguably been Arsenal’s best player since the turn of the year too.

The fact that so many Arsenal players could make a case for being Player of the Year is testament to how good they have all been this term.
