'Nothing short of outstanding': Trevor Sinclair's bizarre and patronising David Moyes message on X

West Ham United manager David Moyes seemingly still has one high-profile ally in the form of Trevor Sinclair.

David Moyes has received plenty of stick from the West Ham fans and pundits alike this season, but Trevor Sinclair has issued a bizarre defence of the Hammers boss.

The 61-year-old Scot will almost certainly leave the London Stadium this summer, with the likes of Julen Lopetegui and Ruben Amorim in the mix to replace him.

And rightly so. We have performed terribly in 2024 under Moyes’s leadership, with just three Premier League wins since the turn of the year.

Over the past three months we’ve been on the wrong end of some proper thrashings as well – 6-0 to Arsenal, 5-0 to Fulham, 5-2 to Crystal Palace and now 5-0 to Chelsea.

We were turned over 5-1 by Liverpool just before Christmas as well! The football that has been implemented by Moyes this season is archaic and unbefitting of a team with so many technically gifted players.

How can the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus, Emerson Palmieri and Jarrod Bowen be motivated when they’re told to sit back and soak up pressure?

I think you can clearly see that all of those players, Bowen aside, have checked out and are on their summer holidays now.

Moyes has overseen a terrible regression at the London Stadium over the past four or five months. And with that in mind, Sinclair’s latest X post really was strange to read…

Trevor Sinclair shares patronising David Moyes X post

If I hear one more ‘be careful what you wish for’ comment from a so-called pundit I’m going to lose my mind.

How can the likes of Alan Shearer and Stuart Pearce continue to peddle such nonsense. Why have we got to be careful what we wish for? Since January 1st we’ve taken 16 points from 17 games – the fourth lowest tally in the division.

We’ve conceded 70 goals in the Premier League – only the bottom four have let in more.

West Ham football club is an absolute mess right now, and Moyes has to shoulder the blame.

However, Trevor Sinclair launched a bizarre defence of a man who clearly hasn’t enjoyed his character and general ability be assassinated over the past few months.

He posted on his X account:

Not many West Ham fans would agree with that sentiment from Trevor Sinclair.

I just find his entire message utterly bizarre. It is steeped in dishonesty and comes across as incredibly patronising to the Hammers fans.

Moyes is not a ‘top guy’. He regularly has a pop at the fans with passive aggressive comments after we lose games – something that he did again after our 5-0 hammering at Chelsea yesterday.

He is arrogant when interviewed by the press and has a real superiority complex. I’ll be glad when he leaves, and I’m extremely excited for the new era of success that undoubtedly lies ahead of us.
