'Integral': Local media praise Wolves loan duo after their final appearances of 2023/24, one gets 9/10

A pair of Wolves loanees really impressed in their final game of the season, with one player being given a 9/10 for his display.

Wanderers have a lot of players out on loan at the moment, and Gary O’Neil will undoubtedly be taking a look at some of them this summer when pre-season starts again.

Supporters are hoping the club will have a productive summer in terms of the transfer market. But it’s possible we could be seeing some players who have been out on loan this term come back into the fold.

Yerson Mosquera has been mentioned as a possible first-team option. O’Neil has already suggested he wants to involve him in the first-team.

Winger Chiquinho – who shone for Wolves at the end of the 2021/22 season, may also be someone O’Neil looks to.

But two others may well have given the manager something to think about after they impressed yesterday in their final appearance of the season.

Yesterday, the Championship season concluded.

Leicester City and Ipswich Town have sealed automatic promotion to the Premier League, and Leeds United, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City will fight it out in the play-offs.

Rotherham United, Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City have been relegated.

It was a safe 17th-placed finish for Stoke City, who have had Wolves youngsters Luke Cundle and Ki-Jana Hoever on loan this season.

Hoever spent the second half of last season with the Potters, and returned for a second spell. Cundle had started the campaign on loan at Plymouth Argyle, but moved to Stoke in January.

Stoke took on Bristol City in their final game of the season – and finished with a flourish, beating the Robins 4-0.

And there were very solid performances from the Wolves boys. The Stoke Sentinel gave player ratings after the game, with Hoever getting an 8/10. They said of him: “Ending the season like a train and forming a stellar attacking partnership with Manhoef down the right. Another assist.”

Cundle was the real standout though. He was given a 9/10, which was the joint-highest rating of any player. They said of the 22-year-old: “Energy, skill and commitment and his one-touch play and movement was integral to how Stoke were able to attack with speed.”

Hoever may have an opening at Wolves

So, a strong finish to the season for Hoever and Cundle, and the pair can be pleased with their respective seasons, making 80 Championship appearances between them this term.

It will be interesting to see what is in store for both of them this summer.

You would imagine that Wolves may look to cash in on Cundle, because of how strong the competition for places is in that department at the moment. Back in January, just before he moved to Stoke, it was reported Wolves were actually considering selling Cundle for £2 million.

Hoever may have a chance back at Wolves.

It was reported recently that Nelson Semedo is a target for clubs in Saudi Arabia. It was then claimed he and Pablo Sarabia could leave for possible big last pay days from other clubs.
