Report: Chelsea now fear Europeans giants are the frontrunners to sign 'world-class' target

Chelsea fear that they could lose out on one of their key targets to another club this summer.

After a couple of really good results for Chelsea, this season is starting to look a bit brighter for Mauricio Pochettino‘s men.

Following their impressive 5-0 win against West Ham United and Manchester United’s 4-0 loss versus Crystal Palace, the Blues are now in seventh place.

Nevertheless, Chelsea will still want to strengthen their squad in the summer, as Champions League qualification was their aim heading into this campaign.

They could face a real battle, though, to sign one target.

Chelsea concerned about PSG’s interest

Nicolas Jackson has not had a bad season at Chelsea, scoring 16 goals in all competitions for the Blues.

However, Chelsea still look likely to bring in a new striker in the upcoming transfer window, with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen seemingly at the top of their list.

According to GiveMeSport, though, there are concerns that Paris Saint-Germain have already made a lucrative proposal to the 25-year-old and are now the frontrunners for his signature.

PSG will be desperate to sign a top forward this summer, as Kylian Mbappe’s contract is about to expire.

Osimhen is having another good season in Serie A, scoring 15 goals in 23 appearances.

Chelsea like Victor Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez

As well as Osimhen, Chelsea also appear to have Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez on their radar.

Insider Graeme Bailey recently told The Chelsea Chronicle that Martinez is a forward who the club have always liked and appreciated.

If they cannot land Osimhen, who has been hailed as a “world-class striker” by AS Monaco’s Folarin Balogun, then the Argentine would be the perfect alternative.

Martinez is just as prolific as Osimhen. In fact, this season, the 26-year-old has scored more goals than his Serie A rival, netting 23 times in the competition, though he has played more games.

However, given his importance to Inter, signing Martinez will be no easy task either.
