‘They would like to’: Arsenal want to try and sign £100m player this summer – journalist

Arsenal spent a massive amount of money last summer.

The Gunners spent over £200m signing the likes of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber.

It was an incredible summer of business form the Gunners, and, by the sounds of it, they could be just as active this time around.

Indeed, Arsenal are keen on signing a new midfielder and a new striker this summer, and more big names could be headed to north London.

Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones has been discussing Arsenal’s transfer plans, and he’s named Bruno Guimaraes as one target to keep an eye on heading into the next transfer window.

Arsenal want to try for Bruno Guimaraes

Jones spoke about the £100m midfielder and Arsenal’s interest.

“One to watch out for, and I don’t think it will happen because of his release clause. Bruno Guimaraes is admired at Arsenal and they would like to give that a go, but at £100m, they definitely have the admiration,” Jones said.

Arsenal’s midfield would be unbelievable

£100m is steep for Guimaraes, but if Arsenal could find a way to pull this signing off, they would perhaps have the best midfield trio in the world.

Bruno Guimaraes, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard would all complement each other so well, and you’d have to make Arsenal one of the favourites for the Champions League if they could find a way to unite this trifecta.

Unfortunately, getting Guimaraes out of Newcastle won’t be easy, but with that £100m release clause in place, money will talk in this instance.

Whether or not Arsenal have the means to spend £100m on another midfielder after Declan Rice remains to be seen, but if they can get this deal done, they will have a midfield that can dominate any game against any opposition.

Arsenal fans should be salivating at the idea of Guimaraes joining the Gunners this summer.
