Mauricio Pochettino should now drop £62m player for next Chelsea game against Nottingham Forest – opinion

Mauricio Pochettino will no doubt be absolutely delighted with how his Chelsea players have dealt with the circumstances surrounding their most recent games.

With the Premier League season reaching it’s climax and the games getting more important, the Blues have stepped up despite the injury crisis surrounding them.

Wins against both Tottenham and West Ham United within three days have helped them move into the European places, although it has been reported that Europa League is the demand of the owners.

Injuries have played a real part in the Argentine’s team selection in recent weeks, with hardly any first team players being fit enough for the squad in recent games.

This has seen opportunities arise for the likes of Alfie Gilchrist and Josh Acheampong, which they have certainly taken up to now.

This crisis could be about to shift though with a number of top stars being seen on the bench again for the 5-0 victory, one of whom being Christopher Nkunku.

Pochettino should start Christopher Nkunku instead of Mykhailo Mudryk

The France international came off the bench at the weekend, and he should be considered to start and help the attack at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The question then turns to who will have to be left out from the starting squad, and unfortunately all fingers right now point to Mykhailo Mudryk.

Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson stepping up

In a time where the likes of Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson have stepped up to help take some workload off Cole Palmer, the 23-year-old has continued to struggle to match the standards.

There are certainly some positive moments in his play, however this is countered by a number of tough examples where he has been off the pace.

Nkunku’s previous experience of playing off the left will give him a boost in this role, especially with the presence of Marc Cucurella behind him in the form of his Chelsea life right now.
