Tata Martino has shared what he has loved recently about Lionel Messi playing alongside Luis Suarez for Inter Miami.
The pair were reunited at the start of the year after Suarez made the move to Florida after being released by Gremio, with the veteran attacker thriving in MLS this season with the Inter Miami no. 9 bagging 12 goals and seven assists already in all competitions.
With Messi flourishing alongside Suarez in the attack, it didn’t take long for the pair to rediscover their connection that once made the duo exceptional at FC Barcelona, with Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba also on Inter Miami’s books.
And Martino has noted what he has loved seeing between Messi and Suarez this year.
Messi and Suarez already ‘influential’ to Inter Miami’s output
Speaking to the Miami Herald, Martino noted how Messi and Suarez are already back up to speed on playing alongside one another, with the reigning Ballon d’Or holder assisting his Uruguay teammate three times on Saturday against the New York Red Bulls.
Whilst Messi has stolen all the headlines this year, Suarez’s impact at Inter Miami cannot be understated, with the striker complimenting his former Barcelona teammate well in their new surroundings in Florida with Inter Miami.
And for Martino, their partnership has been influential for Inter Miami, with Messi and Suarez looking like the most deadly duo MLS has ever seen after just a few months back together.
Martino said: “Their partnership in the second half was like old times. When they find each other and their teammates can back them up, they are very influential in the game.”

Indeed, Messi and Suarez have everything needed to take Inter Miami to the summit of MLS, and this season could see the duo bring more silverware to the Florida franchise if they can stay fit.
