‘Beautiful’: Ben Foster says ‘generational’ Man City player is like a ‘ballerina’ on the pitch

Ben Foster has said that one Manchester City player has been a pure joy to watch this season.

The Manchester club have just three Premier League games left to play before the campaign ends.

In the midst of another tight race to be named as league champions, Pep Guardiola’s side could make history once again by becoming the first side to win four consecutive Premier League trophies.

Out of the 25 players that have featured for City in the top flight this season, one, in particular, has found himself on the end of some heavy praise for what he’s produced on the pitch in this campaign.

In a recent video shared on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Foster said this when asked if he thinks Phil Foden is the best player in the top flight.

He said: “Probably. He’s got to be up there, I think there’s probably two or three but I think you’ve got to say that.

“He’s gone from last year being a Man City player to being this season, the most important Man City player.

“The first name on the teamsheet, the player that you know is going to profit most from having a big Erling Haaland up there where he’s going to pull players away.

“Phil Foden just sneaks in them little places now and is profiting off of it so much. He’s scoring so many goals and assists.

“When you say generational talent, I think he’s got to be one of the most natural players you will likely ever see.

“It’s like he was born with a piece of rope attached to his boot and the football and, pure control all the time.

“Some of the touches and flicks and he’s in control of his body, his body weight, it’s like he’s a ballerina at times, it really is.

“It’s beautiful to watch, he just glides with the ball.”

Foden has been on fire this season

In 32 Premier League games this term, Foden has scored 16 goals and provided eight assists.

Having been named the Football Writers Association’s Men’s Player of the Year, the midfielder has now been nominated for the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season award.

The England international’s overall performances have earned him a strong season rating of 7.51/10 from WhoScored, making him the fifth-highest-rated player in the division.

This highlights just how impressive he has been for the Blues in this campaign, which could end with Foden getting his hands on a sixth Premier League trophy and why Foster has been so enamoured by him.
