‘I would say’: Tom Cairney suggests Arsenal’s £30m player has been just as good as Cole Palmer

We’re getting towards the business end of the Premier League season, and it’s almost time to crown Player of the Year.

There have been some real standout performances in the Premier League this term from numerous clubs.

Fulham FC have asked all their players to name their Player of the Year on their TikTok page, and some interesting answers were given.

The likes of Willian and Joao Palhinha picked out Phil Foden as their Player of the Year, but Tom Cairney had another answer as he couldn’t choose between either Cole Palmer or Martin Odegaard.

Tom Cairney picks Martin Odegaard as Player of the Year contender

Cairney spoke about who he would pick for Player of the Year.

“Premier League Player of the Season? Either Cole Palmer or Martin Odegaard I would say,” Cairney said.

Attacking midfielders have been incredible

Whether it’s Odegaard, Palmer or Foden, it’s clear that attacking midfield players are in vogue in the Premier League at the moment.

In the past, this award has been dominated by strikers, and in more recent years, wingers, but the three main contenders this year are all attacking midfielders who can create just as much as they can score.

Player of the Year may well be decided by who wins the title this year. Foden may well be the frontrunner if Manchester City, once again, get the job done, while Odegaard could become the favourite if Arsenal get over the line.

Palmer is a bit of a wildcard shout, but the England international has been incredible this season, even if Chelsea have struggled in the main.

It will certainly be interesting to see who is crowned Player of the Year at the end of this season as it feels as though the race for this award is more competitive than it ever has been.
