N.Y. man accused of sexually assaulting teen in North Jersey, investigators say

A Bronx man was arrested Friday after he was accused of sexually assaulting a teen in Bergen County, authorities said.

Jorge Sanchez, 38, was charged with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated criminal sexual contact, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said in a release.

The office was made aware of the alleged sexual assault on April 30 by the New Jersey Division of Child Protection & Permanency and an investigation was launched, officials said.

Sanchez allegedly sexually assaulted a child between the ages of 13 and 16 in Elmwood Park, the office said.

It was unclear exactly when the alleged assault took place as the office only said it “occurred in the past.”

Sanchez was detained by the New York Police Department Friday pending extradition to Bergen County, investigators said.
