Brendan Rodgers has a long-term plan at Celtic after beating Rangers

Celtic’s victory on Saturday was Brendan Rodgers’ 150th in total as manager of the Bhoys.

The milestone was satisfyingly achieved at home to Rangers in a big derby clash that has catapulted Celtic to the brink of winning a third successive title.

Throughout the campaign, some prominent media pundits and columnists have questioned whether Rodgers is in it for the long haul or not following his return to Scotland.

With the Premiership finishing line in sight, Rodgers has now declared he wants to make it 150 more wins with the club, suggesting that he loves his job more than ever.

He doesn’t sound like a man who is planning on saying goodbye anytime soon.

Brendan Rodgers wants lots more success at Celtic

Rodgers said [The Scotsman]: “I am loving it. Not many people get the chance to come back so I am very privileged to come back. What I did the first time, I want to build on that.

“I love the football club, I love the life. But there is a lot more for us to achieve here at Celtic. Hopefully there can be another 150 wins. That’s the plan.”

Some Celtic fans will be wary of Rodgers setting out a long-term vision given the nature of his exit to Leicester City in 2019 but nobody can deny he cuts a very happy figure right now.

He’s positively beaming with the work that’s been done this season and gives an impression that this will be one of his most satisfying trophy wins ever.

Also putting in place scouting appointments and player pathway plans, Rodgers is showing strong influence across the entire football department.

Now all we need is for him to be backed appropriately in the summer transfer window and Celtic will be firing towards even bigger and better things.
