Cole Palmer disagreed with something Reece James said after Chelsea's win vs Nottingham Forest

Chelsea secured a 3-2 victory against Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening, putting them firmly in the race for a top-six finish.

The West Londoners went ahead through Mykhailo Murdryk before Wily Boly and former player Callum Hudson-Odoi turned it around.

The visitors netted two goals in two minutes to put themselves back ahead, with Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling on the scoresheet.

Cole Palmer picked up the Man of the Match award and Reece James made quite the statement about the former Manchester City playmaker, speaking post-match.

Reece James’ bold assessment of Cole Palmer

James hailed Palmer speaking to Sky Sports after the game and made a pretty bold statement which even Palmer disagreed with.

“Cole is one of the best in the world, I think personally,” James said.

“You know you’ve seen what he can do when he gets his chance.

“At City, he probably didn’t play as much as he wanted and he came here and took the opportunity with both hands.”

Cole Palmer: “I wouldn’t go that far but obviously it’s nice to hear but you know I’m just keeping my feet on the ground, taking it as it comes.

“It’s all new to me, my first season properly playing in the league but obviously to come to Chelsea and to come to a group of lads that have welcomed me like this, it’s been a pleasure.”

Cole Palmer could be talismanic at the EUROs

James’ ‘one of the best in the world’ verdict might be a little premature but the way Palmer has performed this season, it’s hard to disagree.

The 22-year-old is expected to make the England squad for the EUROs this summer and could become a talismanic figure.

Gareth Southgate just needs to find a way to fit him into the team, ideally in a central role as that’s where he’s flourished for Chelsea.
