Video: West Ham fans will love what Aguerd did behind the scenes at London Stadium yesterday

Nayef Aguerd certainly isn’t one of the most popular players amongst the West Ham United fans, that goes without saying.

West Ham signed Nayef Aguerd from Ligue 1 outfit Rennes in the summer of 2022, for an initial £25 million fee.

The 28-year-old has been really poor for the Hammers over the past year or so, despite a decent start to life at the London Stadium, and he’s apparently keen to leave the club this summer.

It will be interesting to see whether he still has a future at the club after the arrival of Julen Lopetegui, considering the contrasting styles between the Spaniard and David Moyes.

Oe thing’s for sure, we definitely will have more possession and play with a higher backline than we ever did under Moyes.

I will say this though – Aguerd has become a target for criticism from the Hammers fans over the past six months, and not just because of his poor performances on the pitch.

He’s has missed loads of games through injury, but has nearly always miraculously recovered in time to play for Morocco, whenever the internationals roll around.

Aguerd is weak in the tackle and definitely does not embody the old school West Ham spirit. He’s one player that I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing be moved on at the end of the season.

However, something he was just captured doing on camera has made me think a lot higher of him, that’s for sure…

The former Rennes man was at the London Stadium for our 3-1 win over Luton, despite being injured and unavailable for selection.

The win was a fine send off for David Moyes, and George Earthy provided the cherry on top of the cake with his first goal for West Ham.

Who knows, it might be the last time we see Aguerd at the London Stadium as well.

The Moroccan may well be off this summer, and if he leaves he will go with my blessing after seeing the below video.

Aguerd met Earthy in the tunnel after the 19-year-old had just scored his first senior goal for the Hammers.

The video was shared on X via East London Hammers:

The warmth and love shown from Aguerd to Earthy there really was great to see.

It proves that he’s actually a great human being, and we should never take that for granted.

Nayef Aguerd will most likely leave West Ham this summer, and my opinion has completely of him changed over the last 24 hours. Funny things like that aren’t they.
