'Outstanding': Gary Neville blown away by £27m Arsenal player after seeing him live at Old Trafford today

Arsenal saw off Manchester United at Old Trafford today and Gary Neville felt one player was outstanding on the day.

The Gunners had to battle and dig deep to see off United, who stayed in the game despite giving a sloppy goal away toLeandro Trossard.

It means Arsenal will definitely go into the final game of the season in with a chance of winning the league alongside Manchester City.

Of course, it will be Trossard who takes the plaudits for the winning goal.

But back in the heart of the defence, it was the duo of William Saliba and Gabriel who held firm once again to keep an 11th clean sheet of the season.

And lauding one of that duo, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was seriously impressed.

Gary Neville seriously impressed by William Saliba at Manchester United

Speaking on Sky Sports in handing out the player of the match award to Saliba, Neville admitted to being super-impressed by the Frenchman.

“Saliba has been outstanding today. It’s Saliba [Player of the Match]. 11th clean sheet away from home and a really big one,” Neville said.

“He had to keep concentrating. Arsenal have not been at their best today, but he has.”

Saliba has been one of the players of the season

It’s quite remarkable to think that Arsenal paid just £27m for Saliba and even more remarkable that it took a few loan spells and rumours about his future for him to get into the team.

But since being put in as a starter, Saliba has been nothing short of superb and that’s shown in him being nominated for the player of the season award.

The French defender is on an upward trajectory under Mikel Arteta and at such a young age, he could well go on to be one of the best the game has seen.

Today he showed his class and as Neville says, he stood up to be counted in a game that needed different qualities for the Gunners.
