Ian Wright thinks 'intelligent' Arsenal player could even start as a central midfielder now as he's so good

Arsenal saw off Manchester United yesterday and Ian Wright has been singing the praises of one Gunners star.

Leandro Trossard’s goal in the first half sealed a big three points for Arsenal and ensured that the title race will go down to the wire on the final day, regardless of Man City’s result at Spurs.

For Arsenal, it’s been another season of huge progress and if they do miss out on the title, it will be a tough pill to swallow really.

However, there a a number of big positives to take as well. The squad has developed further and a number of players have improved again.

One of those players is Bukayo Saka. The 22-year-old winger has been vital again playing from the right wing.

And Saka has been so good, that Ian Wright believes he’s good enough to play anywhere now, including even in central midfield.

Ian Wright claim Bukayo Saka can play anywhere because he’s so intelligent

Speaking on The Wrighty’s House Podcast, Gunners legend Wright insisted Saka could probably play anyone on the pitch if he was asked.

“Saka, I was talking to people on the show today, I was saying, remember, Saka came to this team, he was left-back for a while and he played left-back for England.

“You look at Saka, Saka could play 10, Saka could play centre midfield, if you had to put them there. You know what? He would probably be good in any position he plays because of how intelligent he is as a player,” Wright said.

Saka can do it all

Goals and assists speak for themselves when it comes to Bukayo Saka, as he’s once again hit double figures.

But it’s the rest of his game that separates him from a lot of other players in the league.

Wright himself mentioned how Saka’s defensive work goes undetected, while Wayne Rooney commented yesterday how Saka does everything a top winger needs to do.

The 22-year-old could probably do what Wright is suggesting here. And in fairness, that’s probably why Mikel Arteta wants another winger, so he can move Saka elsewhere in certain games.
