‘Masterclass’: BBC pundit says one Man City player has been so dangerous this season

BBC pundit Garth Crooks has hailed one Manchester City player for what he’s done on the pitch this season.

The Blues have just two games left to play before the latest Premier League campaign comes to an end, firstly with an away clash against Tottenham Hotspur tonight and then a home match against West Ham United on Sunday.

Their previous game saw Pep Guardiola’s side beat Fulham 4-0 at Craven Cottage, making it six league wins in a row, with 28 goals scored and five conceded.

After this game, one figure in City’s squad, who played a big role in their latest win, found himself on the end of some big praise, not just for his performance against Fulham, but for what he’s done throughout the entire season.

In his latest Team of the Week column for BBC Sport, Crooks had this to say about City’s win at Fulham and Phil Foden’s efforts in the game.

He said: “This was a masterclass by Manchester City. They demolished Fulham at Craven Cottage and it only took 59 minutes.

“By the time Phil Foden had scored City’s second goal it wasn’t just one-way traffic, players were queuing up to score. Meanwhile, Foden’s appetite for goals is becoming insatiable.

“You couldn’t fail to have been impressed about the professional way the visitors went about their work either.

“At 3-0 up they were awarded a penalty but after a brief discussion and a shrug of the shoulders [Josko] Gvardiol seemed to refuse the opportunity to take the spot-kick, and a possible hat-trick, and insist the regular penalty taker take it.

“Which is a far cry from the debacle that took place among Chelsea players recently where people were fighting for the ball.”

Foden has been in top form this season

On Saturday, Foden scored City’s second goal against Marco Silva’s side, taking his tally for the campaign to 17 scored in 33 league appearances.

Now that the Englishman has now scored more goals in this campaign than any other season he’s played in for City, it’s easy to see why Crooks has said that the 23-year-old is now becoming a top goalscorer.

With two crucial games left to play in the league before the FA Cup final against Manchester United, if Foden can find the back of the net in these games and help his side win the trophies they’re after, he’ll have undoubtedly played a key part in their latest successful season.
