Report: How Steve Parish has reacted as Newcastle try to lure Dougie Freedman from Crystal Palace

One of the biggest concerns heading into this summer for Crystal Palace is losing Dougie Freedman, now Steve Parish has reacted.

Right now, Crystal Palace have an incredibly exciting project on the go and rightfully, Steve Parish is unwilling to let the key pieces leave.

We saw this in action as he refuted any chance of Bayern Munich poaching Oliver Glasner by setting an asking price of £86m.

This mentality of keeping the important pieces at the club this summer extends to the director of football Dougie Freedman.

Now, a report has revealed Parish’s exact feelings over the rumoured Newcastle interest in Freedman.

How Steve Parish has reacted to possible Dougie Freedman exit

Losing Freedman this summer would be a huge blow for Palace, considering some of the absolute gems he’s brought to Selhurst Park lately.

According to a report by The Guardian, Parish is attempting to persuade Freedman to reject the Magpies and instead remain at Palace beyond this summer.

It continues that sources have explained Parish is “doing everything he can” to keep Freedman at the club.

Freedman however is said to be open to a new challenge after impressing for his ability at Palace.

For Palace, keeping Freedman is almost as vital as not selling all the current standout players at the club.

Freedman is among the most important Crystal Palace figures

Parish being so desperate to keep Freedman is quite telling of just how important he is to the success at Copers Cope.

Freedman is the main man in recruitment and is renowned for his ability to recruit future stars from the championship.

Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton are the three main examples of his top-class work in recruitment.

In a summer which we expect will see some key players leave, losing the man who’s perfect to find a replacement isn’t ideal.
