'It's been unbelievable': Mikey Moore names the two Tottenham players who've really impressed him in training

Mikey Moore made his Tottenham Hotspur debut last night and named the two players he’s been really impressed with and learning from.

It was a strange night in North London last night, as Tottenham played host to title-hopefuls Manchester City.

A win for Spurs would have put rivals Arsenal in pole position to win the league, so that said, it created a very unusual atmosphere.

Anyhow, Ange Postecoglou’s men ultimately suffered a 2-0 defeat but 16-year-old Moore was given his first-team debut.

Speaking post-match, Moore admitted that he’s been learning from players like Son Heung-min and James Maddison in training.

“It’s been good to see the level of the players. It ups your level, you start to get sharper and better on the ball. It’s been good to be learning off players like Sonny, Madders. It’s been unbelievable really,” the 2007-born said.

Moore became Spurs’ first-ever debutant in the Premier League aged 16 years, nine months and three days old, eclipsing Dane Scarlett’s previous record.

The England youth international has endured an up-and-down season with injuries but last night’s cameo was a testament to his character and he may yet feature in the final-day clash against Sheffield United.

Mikey Moore’s statistics this season

It’s little surprise Moore became the youngster Premier League debutant in Spurs’ history when you take a look at his statistics.

This season, the forward has netted 16 goals whilst laying on nine assists in just 15 appearances for the academy side.

Further, he’s scored six goals in eight outings for England’s under-17s, so it seems the North Londoners have a real diamond on their books.

Indeed, like all young players, he can’t be rushed and must be managed accordingly by Postecoglou and the academy staff.
