'Has to scare the opposition': Alexi Lalas pinpoints what MLS teams are now afraid of with Inter Miami

Alexi Lalas has highlighted what MLS teams are now fear when facing Inter Miami after Saturday’s 3-2 win against CF Montreal.

The Herons once again came from behind to win as Inter Miami went 2-0 down before claiming a 3-2 victory in Canada, one that was made even more impressive with Lionel Messi having an off night.

Instead, Matias Rojas and Luis Suarez were the stars of the show with Benjamin Cremaschi once again finding his way onto the scoresheet with what proved to be the winning goal for Inter Miami against Montreal.

Inter Miami are scaring MLS rivals with the amount of talent they have

Speaking on the State of the Union podcast, Lalas made the claim that Inter Miami’s talent is scaring the opposition due to how easy they’re now finding it to click and to get wins out of nothing.

Lalas said on Inter Miami’s squad quality: “Even in a game where Messi doesn’t necessarily feature and score, he still has an effect. When you look around, and you go down, 2-0, on the road, you say, ‘oh, this is probably it, this is where it’s the end.’

“And yet, now I think they’re looking around and saying, ‘no, we are never out with the talent that we have, with the things that we have done.’

“That’s something that has to scare the opposition because, even at 2-0 with Montreal, we started to look around and say ‘maybe we’re seeing something here from Montreal.’ That pink team, man, oh, man, they find a way to get back into the game.”

No team can compete with Inter Miami’s depth this season

Quality depth is key for any team looking to win silverware, doubly so in MLS where travel for away days really takes it out on players and inconsistent playing surfaces can have an impact on fitness.

And this factor is why Inter Miami could go all the way this season, with no team in MLS having the same amount of quality depth the Herons do in virtually every position of the pitch.

Whilst some additional signings can always be made, Inter Miami know they can outmuscle anyone in the division if they have a fit squad, with recent results proving just that.
