The Green Brigade announce superb tifo plans for Celtic vs Kilmarnock

Celtic travel to Kilmarnock tonight and North Curve Celtic have announced plans for a moving tribute commemorate the honour of club legend Tommy Burns.

On a day where Brendan Rodgers’ men could wrap up a third successive title, the occasion also falls on the 16th anniversary of Burns’ sad passing at age 51.

Growing up in Calton, he went on to become an immortal figure at the club as a player between 1971 and 1989. He then managed his boyhood team between 1994 and 1997 and maintained a lifelong association in a variety of coaching capacities at Parkhead.

Burns is one of the most important men in Celtic history and embodied every characteristic of this special entity, something that the Green Brigade and wider fan collective are set to recognise tonight as they watch their side in action against another of his former teams, Kilmarnock.

Tifo plans for Tommy Burns tribute laid out on social media

As seen below, North Curve Celtic have posted on their official account on social media platform X, laying out plans for a tifo display in memory of Burns.

It reads: “On the anniversary of the death of Celtic’s greatest son, our current heroes are on the cusp of closing another epic chapter in our magical Celtic story.

“Tommy Burns lived for Celtic. Through his immortal example, the fans and team will cross the finish line as one.

“We kindly ask all fans to arrive early, raise your material as the champions-elect enter the field and use Tommy’s memory to inspire vociferous support throughout.”

Celtic previously dedicated their 2007/08 title win to his memory, and it is set to be another emotional night where they could achieve the same feat.

Kilmarnock to also make a classy gesture before kick-off

Kilmarnock have also announced there will be a one-minute applause before tonight’s match commences in a classy gesture to recognise his profound impact at Rugby Park.

Burns helped the Ayrshire outfit win two promotions and established himself as a key player in the top flight, helping Killie to consolidate their status in the league.

Both clubs will share a moment of reflection before battling on the pitch in a potentially season-defining match. God Bless Tommy Burns.
