£43m striker with ‘blistering pace’ wants Premier League transfer amid Tottenham Hotspur interest

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to move for new attacking options this summer with the decision over Timo Werner’s future becoming a little complicated.

Ange Postecoglou wanted to land another attacker during the January transfer window but few could have expected Timo Werner to walk in the door.

The German joined on loan from RB Leipzig with Tottenham giving him another Premier League chance having previously struggled with Chelsea.

Werner showed some promising signs having been deployed down Tottenham’s left flank, running at defenders and driving to the byline with success.

The loan deal includes a £15million option to buy but Tottenham’s decision is a little trickier with Werner out of injured in recent weeks.

£15million isn’t a terrible price but Tottenham haven’t seen quite as much of Werner as hoped due to that injury.

Talks with RB Leipzig will no doubt materialise in the coming weeks but Tottenham may yet look towards another Bundesliga forward.

Omar Marmoush wants England move

Reports in March suggested that Tottenham have a long-standing interest in signing Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush.

Marmoush was allegedly being valued at around £43million with Spurs keen on a summer move.

Ex-Tottenham striker Mido even made a public call for Daniel Levy to bring Marmoush to Spurs in the transfer window.

Marmoush has been hailed for his ‘blistering pace’ by Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmoller and his versatility to play across the front line makes him an intriguing alternative to Werner.

Marmoush would cost around three times the price of Werner but he does appear to be keen on a transfer.

Bild – via Tag24 – now report that Marmoush dreams of playing in the Premier League and his representatives are hoping to get a move to England sorted out.

If Tottenham are willing to cough up the cash, Marmoush may well jump at the move to Tottenham and follow in the footsteps of fellow Egyptians Mido and Hossam Ghaly in the process.

Marmoush stats this season

Marmoush decided to quit Wolfsburg last summer, walking away at the end of his contract to join Bundesliga rivals Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 25-year-old has mostly played up front for Frankfurt but has also shown the ability to play down the left flank.

Marmoush has been impressive this term, racking up 16 goals as well as six assists in 40 games.

The goals have dried up a little of late, finding the net just once in his last 10 Bundesliga appearances.

Marmoush is certainly an exciting attacker though and Tottenham may be tempted to make an ofter this summer.

That slump in form may just leave Tottenham to consider a much lower offer than the £43million suggested.

Whether Frankfurt would entertain such a bid is unclear but Tottenham will be wary of splashing the cash on a player struggling for goals to end the season.
