Brendan Rodgers on top form as he reacts to a stunning title-winning night for Celtic vs Kilmarnock

Celtic are the 2023/24 Scottish Premiership champions, winning the title for a third successive season.

The Bhoys were in unstoppable form away to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Wednesday, blasting five goals past Derek McInnes’ side to land the silverware.

Adam Idah, Daizen Maeda and James Forrest were all on the scoresheet before half-time. Then, Matt O’Riley stepped up to work his magic after the interval to score a double and round off a 5-0 result.

Brendan Rodgers called on his team to sprint over the line after beating Rangers over the weekend. The players answered that challenge with aplomb.

Understandably, the Celtic manager was delighted in his post-match interviews, lauding his squad for what they’ve produced throughout the campaign.

Brendan Rodgers on Celtic’s title victory

Speaking to Sky Sports, Rodgers said: “I believe in the players and what we do. We got there. From a management perspective, there’s been so much to manage.

“Coaching-wise, it’s never an issue, I understand how the team want to play. But there have been so many issues and some tedious stuff. Real tedious stuff, a couple of words and it blows up. But it’s been a great learning season.

“I know what it’s like, it’s why I came back! We recover now. It was an amazing performance by the team after everything we went through this season. They’ve delivered when the pressure’s been on. When the pressure has been on we got the performances and the results.

“We want to finish the season strong at the weekend and then we get ready for the cup final.”

Celtic set for special trophy day vs St Mirren

All the pressure is now off for this weekend’s match at home to St Mirren. It’ll be a special trophy day at Paradise with a lunchtime kick-off live on Sky Sports.

The players will look to put on a show backed by vociferous and appreciative support. Then we’ll get all the theatrics of the post-match presentation and celebrations across Glasgow.

Don’t forget though – and Rodgers certainly isn’t – we’ve got a mammoth Hampden date against Rangers to look forward to as well. This could be a famous double-winning season.
