£30 million fee set for Lopetegui's first West Ham signing - report

Julen Lopetegui will almost certainly be set to take over from David Moyes as the new West Ham United manager this summer.

Incoming West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui has a lot of work to do in the summer transfer window, and he apparently has his first signing already in mind.

The 57-year-old Spaniard has reportedly been given the remit to bring through some of the club’s talented youngsters, but there’s no doubt that he will have to sign at least six or seven top-class players as well.

Lopetegui is believed to be prioritising the signing of an elite centre-forward according to top London Stadium sources:

“The club will 100% be buying a striker”, insiders Claret and Hugh said.

Michail Antonio has been brilliant for us over the past few years but now’s the time for West Ham to make a big upgrade on the 34-year-old.

That man could well be Youssef En-Nesyri. The Morocco international has been a transfer target for the Hammers for quite some time now, most recently just a couple of days ago.

Now it seems like the Sevilla hitman could be set to work under Lopetegui once again…

The Spaniard coached En-Nesyri during his time in charge of Sevilla, so he obviously knows him very well.

Caught Offside claims that En-Nesyri will be Lopetegui’s first signing for the Hammers, and he will cost £30 million.

That’s decent value in my opinion. The 26-year-old is genuinely the perfect striker for the Hammers.

He is incredibly hard working, and is always willing to run the channels. There aren’t many strikers who are better in the air than him and he has the added bonus of possessing impressive technical ability.

En-Nesyri has bagged 72 goals in 194 appearances for Sevilla (Transfermarkt) – better than a goal every three games.

He has scored 112 goals for club and country to his name – a more than respectable return considering that he’s only 26.

If En-Nesyri is the first Julen Lopetegui signing at West Ham, I’ll be more than happy. I think he’d be a big hit at the London Stadium.
