'I'll be honest': Jamie O'Hara is starting to think that English manager could be good for Man United

Jamie O’Hara has delivered his verdict on one manager who has been linked with the Manchester United job this summer.

The Red Devils managed to pick up a win in their final home game of the season on Wednesday night against Newcastle United.

However, it has to be said that Manchester United have had a really poor campaign, and Erik ten Hag could lose his job as a result.

Jamie O’Hara makes claim about Gareth Southgate becoming Manchester United’s manager

Erik ten Hag‘s future as Manchester United manager is up in the air.

The Dutchman has tried to defend his style and has pointed out how many injuries he has had in order to justify his side’s poor performances this season.

However, a club the size of Manchester United just cannot accept finishing outside the European places – they are currently eighth and are likely to end the campaign there.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe calling the shots now, it won’t be a surprise at all to see Ten Hag shown the door right after the FA Cup final at the end of May.

A new manager could come in, and among all the names linked with the Old Trafford hot seat is England manager Gareth Southgate.

The 53-year-old is by no means a popular name among Manchester United fans, but Jamie O’Hara has a different opinion.

The pundit has claimed that he is starting to think Southgate would be a good fit at Old Trafford.

O’Hara said on talkSPORT: “I’ll be honest, right? The more I think about it, Gareth Southgate is not a bad shout.

“He’s good with young players, players like playing for him, they enjoy playing at England, he’s been around it for a long time now, he’s got a decent style of football and he gets the best out of young individuals.

“I don’t think he’s the worst shout in the world.”

One Gareth Southgate stat that should worry Manchester United fans

Gareth Southgate has been at the helm as England’s manager since September 2016.

The Englishman has lost just 16 of his 93 games as the Three Lions boss, which is not a bad record at all… until you have a close look.

Since taking charge of England, Southgate has managed just seven wins in 24 games against teams ranked in the world’s top 10.

That is a shocking return, one that should be of real concern to Manchester United supporters if he does replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford in the summer.

However, if Southgate’s England go on to dominate the Euros and lift the trophy in Germany, his stock will go up and he could well get the job.
