'I really like him': Owen Hargreaves says Chelsea have a young player who could become 'fantastic'

Owen Hargreaves has named the Chelsea youngster that he rates as a player and has huge faith in moving forward.

It’s been well discussed that Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino has had to navigate his way through the campaign with a young and inexperienced group at Stamford Bridge.

Transfermarkt records that Chelsea has the youngest average age of any club in the Premier League this season (23.7). They’re followed by relegated Burnley as the second youngest (24.7). Incidentally, Fulham are the oldest squad in England’s top division this year (28.3).

Chelsea’s young guns climbed up to sixth in the league table with a 2-1 win away to Brighton on Wednesday night. Therefore, it’s in their hands going into the final day of the season on Sunday as they try to wrap up European qualification.

Owen Hargreaves tips Chelsea player to become ‘fantastic’

Owen Hargreaves has shared he’s got big belief in Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson as a talent.

The 22-year-old striker is still a relatively young player at his age. It’s got to be factored in when you consider he’s had the pressure of being the main centre-forward at Stamford Bridge during this debut year in English football.

In fairness, he’s still sitting on 17 goals (14 in the league) from 43 club appearances.

When discussing Chelsea attacker Jackson, Hargreaves said via the Premier League’s website: “He’s very scrutinised. Look, he’s only 22 years old. To come to the Premier League – a new league, a new language, a new culture – it’s a challenge.

“I really like him. Everybody criticises him when he gets in front of goal; maybe he doesn’t have a plan. When he trusts his instincts, I think he’s quite good. When he thinks, he’s not as effective.

“I think there’s going to be a fantastic player there.”

Nicolas Jackson was spot on with his recent comments

Jackson said something recently about his game that is really beginning to ring true.

Speaking via Chelsea’s official website at the start of the month, Jackson said that he’s “adapted very well” from La Liga to the Premier League this season.

With one match left in Chelsea’s season, which is at home to Bournemouth on Sunday, it’s a good time to reflect.

The Chelsea Chronicle feels like Jackson’s game has progressed as the months have gone on and there’s a lot to enjoy about him.

The forward’s all-round game is very tidy and he’s usually involved in build-up play with his great work-rate, so once he brushes up on his finishing the sky may be the limit for him.
